Edino Krieger

as a complement to an outdated biography

Abstract

This article aims to update the biography Edino Krieger: crítico, compositor e produtor musical (Edino Krieger: Critic, Composer, and Music Producer), published in two volumes in 2012 by SESC Nacional. In 2014, the composer Ronaldo Miranda defined it as "a singular biography for a plural composer", in his critical review written for the Revista Brasileira de Música (Brazilian Music Magazine). A decision to update the referred biography was made, however, it was clear that the potential of the composer's set of achievements, combined with the greatness and natural projection of his activities, would always motivate the emergence of new facts, revisions, and insertions. The present article updates Edino Krieger's biography, especially regarding his new works, as well as listing the responses of the academic community through new recordings, articles, dissertations, and theses. There is a mention of the Bem-me-quer Paquetá Project on pages 58-59 of the biography (volume II), although it is not extensive. The present article finally approaches the project more consistently, in order to bring up the "Edino Krieger-Music Educator," whose importance seemed relegated to a minor plan by the composer himself.
