The issue of non-linearity in the context of digital games composition

The objective of this article is to reflect upon the creative peculiarities that non-linearity imposes on music composers for videogames. These demands, despite having arisen due to the interactive characteristics of videogames, can certainly provide technical and conceptual material in the scope of conventional composition. In order to ground these considerations, some typical adaptive music procedures are considered, such as looping, horizontal resequencing and vertical overlap.
