This article derives from a segment of a master's thesis entitled Os Prelúdios Pitorescos de Isaías Sávio: uma análise interpretativa guiada para a performance. The paper aims to conceptualize, through an analytical perspective, a preparation for the performance of Crepúsculo, which is part of Isaías Sávio's cycle of Prelúdios Pitorescos (1900–1977). The interpretive analysis is grounded on the hermeneutical concepts that were presented in the works of Umberto Eco and Paul Ricoeur. The possibilities for interpreting the performance parameters draw inspiration from the frameworks outlined by John White in his book The Analysis of Music (1976), and John Rink in the book Musical Performance: A Guide to Understanding (2002). It is expected that this contribution will strengthen the field of performance as an area of knowledge, inspire future scholars, and assist performers interested in playing the prelude cycle.
